What Social Justice means to students?
Social Justice is definitely an interesting topic that needs to be recognized. In honer of our upcoming film festival, I have asked a couple of UCM students about what Social Justice means to them.
Sarah Lucy, a nursing student at UCM had this to say, ” To me, social justice is something we have yet to achieve. It is the ideal, where each individual can feel truly accepted for who they are. Where they do not have to fear judgment and ridicule like social injustice often causes.
Alexandra Lambdin, a Digital media major here at UCM said this, ” I believe that social justice is the practice of equality applied to every group type in society. To recognize the rights and dignity of each human being and their freedom to choose.
Amber Ward, also a Digital Media major here at UCM, said ” Social Justice to me means the somewhat controversial issues that a society must determine if it is right or wrong.
So as you can see, all people may have a different perspective on what Social Justice means. Its important for us as a society to communicate with others about issues, because it can help us grow stronger as a nation. So now its your turn, what does Social Justice mean to you?
